The story
Why Play the Event exists
Play the Event is a project by Federico Calò, who designs, builds and runs it himself. It started from a simple observation: people organizing a party, a group trip or an association's evening keep guests, replies, expenses and deadlines scattered across spreadsheets, chats and emails.
Play the Event brings those things into one place, from idea to plan, even for people with no technical skills. During the beta every plan is free, and the people using it tell us what works and what needs fixing.
The second half of the story is about places: every event is also a reason to visit an area, and an area does better when events are not packed into a single season. The tools for places to stay, restaurants and towns are still being built, and we say so.
Who runs the service
Play the Event is run by an individual, who is also the data controller: contact details are in the privacy policy.
Read the privacy policyWhere we are
Play the Event is in beta. During the beta every plan is free and no credit card is needed; prices apply from the end of the beta, with notice and only after you confirm.
See pricing after the betaHow it is funded
Today the running costs are covered by the owner. After the beta Play the Event is funded by paid plans: there is no permanent free plan.

Our principles
What we commit to
Three rules that apply to every page and every feature.
We say what exists and what does not
The available features are the ones in our register; the ones in preparation we call "coming", with no dates we cannot keep.
Data on our own server
Website, application and database sit on a server in Germany, in the European Union; every night an encrypted copy of the database is sent to a mailbox for recovery. Providers and transfers are described in the privacy policy.
AI without external providers
When one of our tools uses artificial intelligence, the model runs on our server: your requests do not reach external AI providers.
Our method
How we write
New guides start from primary sources: laws, official statistics, documents from public bodies. Next to every figure you will find the source, the year of the data and the date we read it, and we are bringing the same method to older guides and to the tools. Articles are signed by the Play the Event editorial team and show the date of the last update.
Texts on permits, safety, privacy and copyright go through a consistency check against the rules and our terms before they are published. They are not legal advice: for your own case, ask a professional.
We also use artificial intelligence tools when preparing our texts. Facts, figures and sources are checked before publication, and responsibility for what we publish stays with us.
If you find a mistake, write to us: we correct the text and update the date.
We do not publish numbers of users or events that we have not measured with a stated method.
What we work on
The two pillars
Organizing events and trips
For people who organize: guests and replies, tasks with deadlines, budget and shared expenses, seating plans and group trips, in one place.
Organizing events and tripsYear-round events
For hosts: we work so that events become a reason to visit in every season. The tools for places to stay, restaurants and towns are being built.
