Event Audio Transcriber
Automatic transcription is not available on Play the Event: here is why, and free ways to get the text of a meeting or a voice note.
This tool does not transcribe recordings
Automatic audio transcription is not available on Play the Event. That is why this page does not ask you to upload a file: asking for it without being able to process it would be pointless. No recording is sent, processed or stored by this page.
Why it is not available
Speech recognition needs far more computing power than the server hosting Play the Event has: running it here would slow down every other feature of the product for everyone using it at that moment. We would rather say so than show a page that pretends to work.
What you can do now
- Get the text. Use the voice dictation of your phone or computer keyboard while you speak, or ask whoever recorded the meeting for the text.
- Summarize it. Paste the text into the Event Summary Generator and get a summary to attach to the minutes.
- Extract the key points. L'Automatic Keyword Extractor gives you the recurring topics of the text.
How it works
Automatic transcription of recordings is not available on Play the Event. This page says so openly instead of asking you for a file that would not be processed, and points you to the ways that actually work to get the text of a meeting, a talk or a voice note from a site visit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I upload a recording here to be transcribed?
No: the page does not accept audio files, because automatic transcription is not available and asking you for a file we cannot process would serve no purpose. No recording is sent, processed or stored.
Why is automatic transcription not available?
Speech recognition needs far more computing power than the server hosting Play the Event has available: turning it on would slow down every other feature of the product for everyone using it at that moment. We prefer to say so rather than show a page that pretends to work.
How can I still get the text of a meeting or a voice note?
Use the voice dictation already built into your phone's or computer's keyboard while you speak, or ask whoever made the recording for the text. Once you have the text, the Event Summary Generator turns it into a summary to attach to the minutes and the Event Keyword Extractor picks out the recurring topics: both are free Play the Event tools, linked from this page.
