Event Power Consumption Calculator
Estimate your event's total power in kW, the generators you need and the energy cost, from audio, lighting, catering and technical equipment.
How it works
List all the electrical equipment at the event (sound system, lighting, catering stands, technical equipment) with its power rating to calculate the total requirement in kW. The tool helps you check whether the venue's power supply is adequate or whether you need a generator.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate the power consumption of an event?
Add up the power in watts of all equipment (sound system, lights, stands, mobile kitchen, PCs and projectors) and add a safety margin. Check that the venue's power supply (in kW available) is higher than the total you calculated.
When do I need a generator for an event?
You need a generator when the venue's power supply is insufficient, for outdoor events without a fixed connection, as a backup for critical events that depend heavily on electricity, or when the venue cannot guarantee an uninterrupted supply.
How much power does a concert sound system use?
It depends on the size of the audience and the system: a large line-array system draws far more than a setup for a small concert, and stage lighting adds its own load depending on the complexity of the light show. Ask your audio and lighting suppliers for the power rating of their equipment and enter it here.
